Click or press Space to reveal answer

Answer

Symmetric: same key for encryption/decryption, faster, key distribution problem (AES, DES). Asymmetric: public/private key pair, slower, solves key distribution (RSA, ECC). Hybrid approach: asymmetric for key exchange, symmetric for data. HTTPS uses both.
